A pump control valve is a critical component

Working principle
The pump control valve is installed at the pump outlet, controlled by the guide pipe to eliminate the impact of the
fluid on the pipelines during pump start-up or power-off.
At pump start-up, the control valve is in closed state. After the start-up, the electromagnetic control switch is
powered on; the valve will open gradually; the pressure in the pipeline rises slowly until the working head of the
pump is reached.
When the pump receives the shutdown signal, the electromagnetic control switch will power off; the valve will start
to close gradually; the flow in the pipeline gradually reduces while the water pump is still working. When the valve
is fully closed, the limit switch installed on the valve will form an electronic interlocking relationship with the
pump to cancel the pump start-up command, the pump stops.
Types of Pump Control Valves

Start-Stop Control Valve
The start-stop control valve is typically connected to the start-stop control
signals of the pump system. Its primary function is to manage the start and stop operations of the pump,
ensuring that the pump is protected from water flow impact during these processes. This prevents excessive
mechanical shock caused by sudden changes in water flow during startup or shutdown. Start-stop control valves
can be categorized into two types: automatic start-stop valves and manual start-stop valves. Automatic
start-stop valves work in conjunction with the pump's automated control system, automatically opening or closing
the valve based on the pump’s start and stop signals.

Flow Control Valve
The flow control valve is used to regulate the flow rate of water. It adjusts the water
flow according to system requirements, ensuring that the pump system’s flow meets specific operational demands.
Based on the control method, flow control valves can be divided into electric flow control valves and pneumatic

The water hammer arrestor valve is mainly used to prevent water hammer
phenomena in the pump system (water hammer refers to pressure fluctuations caused by inertia when water flow
suddenly stops or reverses). Water hammer can cause significant damage to the pump system. The water hammer
arrestor valve mitigates sudden changes in water flow by adjusting the valve opening, thereby reducing the
occurrence of water hammer.

Each pump control valve has a specific flow direction. During installation,
ensure the valve’s flow direction aligns with the pipeline’s flow, as indicated by an arrow on the valve body.

Regulating valves (e.g., flow or pressure regulating valves): Install to enable precise adjustment of flow
or pressure.

For certain control valves, installation height must align with other components in
the pump system and account for actual flow requirements. For example, flow control valves should be installed
at higher-pressure points in the system to ensure accurate regulation.
